Free Mom & Dad SVG Layered Files

So, the world has gone mad. I mean, doesn’t it feel almost surreal?

A world wide pandemic is something I thought I would only see in movies and board games. It really never occurred to me that it would actually be something to touch and even deeply affect my day to day life.

First, Here is to hoping that this finds you and yours safe and well supplied for all your needs. Our family is stocked for a couple weeks and ready to hunker down. My girls and I are not especially vulnerable to the virus, thankfully, but my husband does not have a strong immune system.

All anyone can do is be prepared and pray!

So, how are things in your neck of the woods? Lots of hand-washing here and we have enough toilet paper and soap too! đŸ˜‰

Hopefully, these couple SVG files will be a welcome diversion for you.

Layered Bee File Posted on Etsy

If you happened to catch my last post, you saw that I created an adorable layered bumble bee file. I used it as a baby shower gift, but I have had at least two people purchase it for a beekeeper they know.

Anyhow, I did polish up the file and get it posted on Etsy. You have to add your own text, but the rest is ready to cut!

Mom and Dad Layered Paper Art

Since we all have our family and their well-being on our minds, I thought a quick couple files for Mom and Dad would be perfect. Mother’s Day and Father’s day aren’t too far away. Get your cards done early.

While I envision these as layered card fronts, but you could definitely do more with them.

Here are some of my past posts on Father’s Day Cards and Files.

And some on Mother’s Day Cards and Files!

Free Bee SVG Download – Ha ‘Bee’ Birthday

I have a free Bee SVG for you tonight. Looking at this smiling bee is definitely cheering me up a bit. While I am glad to be back here posting a new file for everyone, it has been a rough week here my neighborhood.

Sadly, a little girl on her bike was hit and killed on her way to my daughter’s school this week. It is so tragic to lose such a young life. Please keep her family in your prayers. Her name was Irie.

It has been so heavy on my heart, especially having to share the news with my young daughters. They are so sweet though, and they were reassuring me that she was not dead, but alive with God in heaven. Such sweet little hearts children often have.

BEE Layered Paper Art

Anyhow, if you need a little cheering up after such a heavy topic, I have just the file for you tonight. I made this cute little bee for a gift a few weeks ago. It was my first attempt at a layered paper art picture.

Actually, this is how the layered file looked in Adobe Illustrator before I cut it out.

Not that I like to brag, but I do really love how it turned out. Hopefully the recipient did too!

If there is enough interest, I may put the layered file up for sale on my Etsy Shop, but for now I wanted to share the cute little bee. Before I can put it up for sale, I will need to write up instructions and figure out how to make the name layer more customizable.

UPDATE

I managed to get the layered file cleaned up and posted on Etsy!
Find it HERE.

The one thing I would change were I to make it again is to put a little more support behind the middle of the name layer as it was a wee bit wobbly.

Free BEE SVG and hand-lettered sentiment

Also, because I felt the little bee was lacking something, I hand-lettered a cute birthday message to go with it. Hopefully you enjoy it and are able to make something adorable with it.

I also have some other cute animal files if you want to take a look.

Happy Creating!

If you are curious, I separated the layers in my picture using cork scraps. I use cork for the backs of the coasters I have on my Etsy Shop, and always have lots of scraps left over. They turned out to be just perfect for the job. Here are some behind the scenes photos of this project.

Well, I sincerely hope you have a wonderful week. BEE happy, and enjoy life.

Fireworks 4th of July Free SVG Download

Fireworks for the Fourth of July!

What do you do on the fourth of July? Growing up we often went to a park with a blanket to watch the fireworks. Or, sometimes, went to see the Rockies play and watch the fireworks afterwards. More recently, we have done nothing. Yep. Nothing.

To be fair, we have three young children (ages 5, 4, and 0). Whenever I feel like we never do anything, I have to remind myself that the time will come where things will be easier, maybe?

If, unlike me, you throw a grand party, I have some great files for you. The one below is one I made last year. They would be great place cards for a more formal gathering, or labels for your buffet!

Fireworks SVG File Download

Additionally, I have a new 4th of July svg file for you to download.

Now, if I had one of the laser cutting machines that look so amazing, I would be making myself some cute little lanterns with this file. Can you blame me, doesn’t it look amazing?!

I mean, wouldn’t it look great on the side of a little lantern with an LED candle inside? I suppose I could make it into a paper lantern…

What machine or machines do you use? I currently use the Silhouette Cameo 3. It has served me well and handles everything I have needed thus far.

However, I have heard that the Cricut Maker is amazing! Anyone have it? If I upgrade though, it may be in the fall when the new Silhouette 4 is set to come out. It is supposed to match or surpass the Maker and be cheaper!

As a side note, the singular of ‘fireworks’ does not roll off the tongue easily. I looked it up. It is ‘firework’ but was noted as ‘rarely used’ in the singular. Languages were my thing in college. And math.  I like words and I suppose that make me a nerd. I am okay with that.

Well, anyway, I have a beautiful fireworks SVG for you today.

Happy Summer and Happy Fourth of July!

Free Father’s Day SVG Cutting Overlays for making your own Cards!

Well, Father’s Day is almost upon us again! Time goes by so fast it is hard to keep up with things!

Speaking of time, I don’t know if anyone actually notices when I have been absent for a while, but I have been. Sorry!

We have been moving. First, we moved from a large house in Michigan (Michigan has great prices on housing if you plan to be there a while). Then, we were then in a one room hotel room in Colorado for the summer with our two young girls. Then we moved into an apartment near my husband’s new job. Now, we are finally back in a house! Yay!

However, all that moving has put a serious cramp on my crafting and blogging time, so I apologize. I did however manage to make a new father’s day card overlay. My first was tool themed for my dad, then I made a fishing themed one last year, and now I present my gold themed overlay!

What does your dad like to do? I would love some inspiration for other overlays. Actually, I really like this collection of svg files. After all, a one cut and adhere card that still looks great is an awesome time saver!

Previous Father’s Day Cards

Take a look at the card I made a couple years ago. My dad was always fixing my toys, working on a project, or just being a handy man. He even built me doll bunk beds one year!

So, this is the card I made for him several years ago.

Last Year’s Father’s Day Fishing SVG Overlay

While I do not fish and no one I know fishes, these fishing images were just too cute. Plus, Father’s Day makes me think of dads and fishing!

So, for all of you with fishermen in your lives, this card overlay svg file is for you. I haven’t had time to test cut it out, so let me know if you run into any snags.

Check out this file and the blank template in this post.

Happy Father's Day

Free SVG four leaf clover for St. Patrick’s Day!

UPDATED POST CLICK HERE!

Can you believe March is here? Well, here I have a free SVG file to remind you that St. Patrick’s Day is on its way. So, who likes four leaf clovers? Did you ever spend hours in a field trying to find one? I feel like I did as a kid, but I don’t remember ever finding one.

Do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? We didn’t do much for it growing up, except for wear some green to avoid being pinched! Occasionally we would go out for lunch or dinner to somewhere vaguely Irish. What are your traditions? Is it a Holiday you take note of or just skip over? I have never been a big drinker, so I imagine that those who enjoy that pastime may do more to celebrate than I do.

Free SVG Cutting File

At any rate, this is a really cute little four leaf clover cutting file. I think it would look great cut out in glitter heat transfer vinyl on a shirt. Maybe with a cute little saying of some sort underneath? Well, I hope you enjoy! And have a fabulous March!!

Here I present to you this St. Patrick’s Day SVG file freebie, the famed four leaf clover!

Fourth of July – free name card SVG

Can you believe that June is almost gone? It has gone by very quickly for our family!

Fourth of July

Well, here I am always thinking about the next holiday and what SVG files I should create. Feeling patriotic? Great! I have just the thing for you. These little name cards would be great for labeling food at your great big 4th of July party!

4th of July Dip Name Card

Do you have any family recipes that only come out on the 4th of July? Our family has one that we like to call the “Fourth of July Dip”. Really, it is just a delicious 7-layer dip that covers a huge serving platter. I’m sure that the recipe is no secret. However, the dip is delicious and is rarely seen in our family except on the 4th of July.

4th of July Name Cards

So, what do you think of these cute little cards? I am partial to them. Since I like my projects to be as simple as possible, these cards only have 3 pieces – one for each color.

Free 4th of July SVG file download

And now, of course, the download. Please enjoy! As always, this is for your personal use only and I love to see pictures if you end up using it!

Note that the download will give you an SVG file which you can import into your software and ungroup to get each color separately.

Also, be sure to check out my fun STARS SVG file. Let me know how this one cuts if you try it out!

Happy Father's Day Template

Well, what about your non-fisherman father?

I have you covered! If you can think of a hobby or theme that he likes, put it on his Father’s Day Card! Just download the empty template and start loading it up with files relating to your theme.

Go ahead, go crazy! Just find anything you can that is adorable and relates to your theme. Size it, spin it, and put in place. That is all there is to it.

As a tip, just make sure that your images touch the inner and outer borders and then “union” the paths. Look up tutorials on this if you don’t know how to, or let me know if you really get stuck.

Earth Day – Download your free earth day SVG file now!

Earth Day!

Does anyone here do anything for earth day? Sadly, I really don’t. However, it was a great way to come up with new ideas for SVG files. This is just a quick trace of a nice looking silhouette of the globe. It would look great on a travel scrapbook page or perhaps on an Earth Day t-shirt!

Earth Day SVG Download in BLue

In case you are interested, this is the original clip art file! I didn’t change it much. First, I did a quick trace in Adobe Illustrator. Second, I simplified it and smoothed the corners just a tad. Lastly, I widened the top line a bit to make the finished product a bit more sturdy!

What have you made recently? Show me your projects, I love to see them!!
